Openings

Our Mission District café opens this Saturday

Twelve seats, one roaster in the window, and a menu built around the lots you already love. Doors open at 7am, June 21st.

An overhead pour of a latte with a tulip pattern, on a warm wooden café counter.
The first latte off the new bar — Las Brisas, naturally.

For ten years we've roasted coffee and shipped it to your kitchen. This Saturday, for the first time, you can come and let us make it for you. The Marek café opens at 418 Valencia Street, in the Mission, at 7am sharp.

It's small on purpose — twelve seats, a single espresso bar, and a sample roaster running in the front window so you can watch a batch come together while you wait. We wanted somewhere that feels like the roastery, not a chain: a counter you can lean on and a barista who has time to talk.

What's on the menu

Espresso and milk drinks pull from Las Brisas and the new Cocoa Nib blend. There's a rotating filter — opening week it's the Guji Uraga — brewed by the cup. Pastries come from Halford Bakehouse two doors down, which is also how the Cocoa Nib collaboration started. And yes, every bag on our shelf is for sale to take home.

We built it the size of a living room because that's how coffee should feel — close, unhurried, a little bit nosy. — Ana, who runs the café

Opening morning, the first hundred coffees are on us, and anyone who brings an empty Marek bag gets it refilled at half price. Come early — twelve seats fill fast.
